We’ve been working on this baby for a while now, and and are rather excited to offer our customers easy access and clear visuals on all of Volker’s designs. The shop has some awesome new features, where you are able to see your choice of colours, pattern and other specification options before your very eyes. Check out the also new Mini Wow and Wow pendants, where you can select your own configuration. This ingenious new feature allows customers and specifiers to see exactly what they want, which is particularly useful in Volker’s designs that have many options to choose from, such as the Cable Jewellery range. A new site in Melbourne’s metropolis will open its doors to two levels of party vibes, artists installations, and works by a fiery collection of Melbourne’s most exciting young fashion designers. The evening will offer performance works, life affirming beats from Brothers Hand Mirror and booty from their nine piece dance accoutrement.

Volker’s participating as an artist this year, and has been busily working on something big, bold and unexpected – all will be revealed on opening night! He’d love to see you there to share a drink, and check out the hottest Art/Fashion/Music event in town. Volker always looks forward to the opportunity to come up with something a little more experimental outside of his design practice at Penthouse Mouse, so he’d certainly be chuffed to get your feedback. His talented colleague Kristin Lewis will also be showing a new sculpture, and this event is the baby of Volker’s studio neighbors Moth Design. Come on down and check it out!

Last weekend Volker had some super specials on offer at the Worth Studios Summer Design Market. Volker and friends opened the doors to their Brunswick East studios and showrooms for a fun weekend of designer bargains and yummy food. Moth Design, Trimapee, and Limedrop among others had their wares on offer, with Dic slaving over the BBQ making pulled pork and slaw rolls for visitors. Volker had his Terrariums, Fire Trees and LED lamps reduced, a selections of ready made Wow shades, up-cycled component table lamps and other bits and pieces. Stay tuned for Volker’s other appearances at Melbourne’s summer design markets, especially if you want unique designer lighting at a budget price.

Volker will be opening the doors to Worth Studios and his showroom for a buzzing weekend market, filled with Christmas bargains, food and entertainment. Volker will be selling a selection of pendants and shades at heavily reduced prices. A range of unusually shaped Fire Tree candelabras will also be reduced, along with a nice 20% saving on Volker’s light globe Terrariums. Volker is working on some amazing table lamps made from upcycled vintage components, and incredibly for the weekend only, Volker will be offering a 20% discount on his new LED lamps and a selection of other styles. This event is a must see for anyone considering unique lighting solutions on a tight budget, and a great opportunity to visit Volker’s showroom on the weekend.

Volker’s Gone Fishing table lamp has a new little sister, with the introduction of the new decorative designer compact fluoro version. The super cool globe perfectly mimics the coloured fabric cable as it twists and winds around the arm of the lamp. The new version is 11w(=56w) with a natural warm white light. It is not dimmable, and being a compact fluorescent has a longer life with greater efficiency. The Gone Fishing is made to order just for you, with your choice of coloured fabric cable. If you’re fishing for Christmas pressie options, here’s a bright idea, priced at $473 inc. gst.

Volker has had a few new additions to his range of lamps. His new clear filament style and opal LED lamps are now stocked in edison style and 125mm round, with a screw-in or bayonet fitting. These lamps will be included in the Volker Haug Spec Sheet as soon as possible, but until then these lamps are in stock and available to customers. All LED lamp styles can be selected as an included part of a pendant/wall/table design purchase. LED lamps feature very low energy consumption, and a long life. Volker’s LED’s come with a 24 month warranty, and are all 6 Watts (=40Watt output). The wonderful thing about the clear lamps in particular, is that the deign of the central LED ‘filament’ aims to replicate the look of a vintage incandescent filament lamp, so Volker Haug customers have a new energy efficient alternative that looks great too!

Volker has a whole forest of his Fire Tree candelabras available immediately, saving customers the normal lead time of 3 – 5 weeks. In the lead up to Christmas, the Fire Trees make a colourful and stylish gift idea, and are sure to add the perfect accent to your dining table this silly season. There is a wide range of beautifully contorted shapes and luminous anodised colours available. Volker has just returned from Sydney where he exhibited his luminous range at Grand Designs Live. Following on from the Melbourne event, Volker was keen to see what all the Sydney-siders had to say about his designs. The response was fantastic! Everyone who visited his stand was so positive, and very interested in his light globe Terrariums (see in news below), new energy efficient LED lamps, and the new Mini Wow and Wow Shades among many other designs. The sun may have been shining outside, but the glow from Volker stand was even brighter inside.
